Scientists at Work:          How does light affect the                                                  length and direction of shadows?

We carried out our first science inquiry today. By holding a flashlight near a craft stick from different angles and heights we made shadows of different lengths. When the flashlight was to the side it made a longer shadow, but when it was higher over the stick, it made a shorter shadow.

Light and shadow has a correlation with each other. It is just basic science, without the light, then you cannot have a shadow. This is something that we learn at a young age, however, what we know is just the basics. It is great that you gave emphasis on the concepts that surround the entire idea of light and shadow. I am hoping that many people read this and get a better understanding about the concepts and theories about light and shadow.

I love teaching first grade. This is where you can look and see some of the things we do in the classroom.
